Electromagnetic Field Detectors (EMF Detectors) EMF Detectors pick up on electrical fields caused by electrical objects. These devices can be used by homeowners to gage the amount of electromagnetic energy that is coming from electrical appliances, cordless telephones, televisions, computers, power lines, and other electronics in their home. Too much electromagnetic energy can make a person physically sick and cause health issues like hallucinations, skin disorder, paranoia, depression, headaches, dizziness, nausea, difficulty concentrating, memory loss, irritability, anxiety, muscle and joint pain, and weakness when exposed to high levels. You will then need to call a professional electrician. It is believed that spirits are comprised of energy. In order to speak, make a noise or manifest in the form of an apparition, ghosts need to gather energy to do so. They use electricity to "build up" energy to give them enough power to make themselves known from the other side. EMF detectors are often used by paranormal investigators to measure electromagnetic fields at a location. After taking a base reading of the location, any fluctuation by an EMF detector that happens in conjunction with a noise, sighting or EVP recording, might possibly indicate the presence of a spirit. If you know the locations of the natural electrical energy of the location and have the base readings, any fluctuation in the meters can be a valuable asset to the investigator. In theory a spirit can communicate with you through this meter by lighting up the LED lights with yes or no answers.
EMF meter 822-A Digital Gauss meter Measure EMF-822A Industrial, Scientific & Paranormal Electromagnetic Field Radiation Meter. In theory, spirits/ghosts give off an electromagnetic field which can be picked up by an EMF meter. Once we get to the investigation location, the first thing we must do is get a general base reading of the site. We do a walk through on the site and find out if there is anything surrounding the area that could cause an electrical disturbance or throw off the meter. If we get an unusual reading, we study the area to try and figure out what could be causing it. If there is no explaination or another alternative, it could be paranormal.
Infrared Laser Guided Thermometer ST600 This is a non-contact infrared temperature measuring device that allows you to measure the surface temperature of an object from a distance. The laser beam guides you so you can tell what surface you are measuring the temperature of. This type of instrument is used by ghost hunters to measure changes in temperatures from the surroundings in hard to reach areas, for example ceilings. A lower temperature then in the surrounding area is a "cold spot" which is often associated with a spirit form using up heat as an energy source to manifest. In theory when a spirit/ghost is manifesting it may give off a cold spot or a hot spot because the spirit/ghost will draw in the energy around it causing a temperature change.The first thing we do is get a base reading so we can compare later on. We want to scan the area looking for any temperature changes, if we get a cold spot or a hot spot then we investigate the area. A normal reading is a range close to your base reading. A paranormal reading is a 10-degree drop from your base reading. You may get either a hot spot or a cold spot. A hot spot is rare but they do occur. Majority of the time you will get a cold spot.

Video cameras might also be able to pick up what the human eye might not see. Video cameras also may record sound. While analyzing the video you need to listen to the sound because it may pick up EVPs.
Digital Voice Recorder (DVR) The digital audio recorder is used to pick up a EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon). This recorder is very helpful to pick up sounds and voices we can't hear with our own ears at the time of the investigation.
Digital Camera In theory if you take a picture of a random area that has nothing there, then when you look at the picture something shows up on your photo, it might be considered as paranormal. While in the field we take random pictures of an area and also take pictures when asking questions on the DVR, or if there is any activity on any of the equipment.When analyzing the photographs you are looking for any type of anomalies in the photos that cannot be explained. When using a digital camera there will be many times that you get orbs in your photos. Because the digital camera is a higher quality than the 35mm camera it will pick up more objects in the air such as water vapor and dust particles, bugs which are very commonly mistaken for orbs. Some of the things you are looking for when analyzing photographs are: mists, streaks, apparitions etc.
